Are we the sum of our memories?
For a time while, we are the sum of our memories. Starting from the earliest days of life, we remember ourselves into what will one day become a fully developed individual. No matter how aware we are, from mental states as dissociated as dreaming to mental states as focused as the initial stages of motor skill acquisition, memory is the composer and the crew behind the scenes. From the simplicity of our early years and on into the midst of our adult daily experiences, memory is the basis of our conditional behaviors. The way we carry ourselves in the world is intricately connected to the ways we manage and relate to our autobiographical information.
